My Mum and I have recently been on the hunt for soaps free of palm oil because of the damage that harvesting it does to habitats of animals, orangutans in particular. The other day I suddenly thought of Lush as they advertise themselves as a cruelty free brand and so I did a bit of research and voila, no palm oil in their soaps! Here are the three we bought:
Honey I Washed The Kids
Lush describes this soap as ‘a caramel-scented soap that lifts your mood and soothes and softens skin. Gentle enough to wash young skins, it’s like washing with crème brûlée in solid form. This soap contains mood-brightening sweet wild orange and bergamot oils as well as the soothing properties of honey and aloe vera gel.’
So far I’ve only smelt this one but I would agree with their description. It has a very sweet, caramel-puddingy smell and I love it. It smells and looks good enough to eat!
Lush’s description is ‘Don’t leave sweet dreams to chance, try this skin-soothing French lavender and chamomile lullaby for the sweetest golden slumbers. When bedtime approaches, turn to a trusted blend of relaxing herbs and reach for Serendipity.’
Personally I love the smell of lavender, I find it so calming and soothing. It reminds me a bit of when I was younger because we used to have it in our front garden and you could smell it when playing on the road outside our house with friends.
Lush’s description is ‘One of your favourites (and ours), this is a solid soap with a light citrus scent. A simple but powerful blend of lemon oil and glycerine, with a palm-free soap base. Bohemian is gently cleansing, perfect for adding a little lift to your day. We put lemon oil in here to act as a pick-me-up, refreshing your mind and mood.’
I’m not actually a fan of citrus smells (my Mum chose this one) but it smells very lemony, not really a light citrus scent… It’s all I can smell. If you do like citrus this one is definitely for you, I think it’s the most citrusy soap that Lush make.
I hope you enjoyed this post, I’m a massive fan of Lush and I think what they stand for is also really important not to mention their incredible products.
